Install HighPressure Water Pumps at Hawthorne Track TrackSTICKNEY STICKNEY 111 May 6 Charles W Bid will managing director of the Hawthorne track reports that all work on the heavy improvement program has been virtually completed at the local plant and that the track is ready for the opening of the Lin ¬ coln Fields meeting next Monday MondayAs As an added preventive measure against fire Bidwill announced that he has in ¬ stalled apair of highpressure water pumps that will be manned 24 hours daily The machines are of the most modern type and reach a pressure of 350 pounds Jeeps will be used to pull the pumps and several re ¬ tired Chicago firemen have been employed to handle them
