NOTES OF THE TURF The Kentuckyism Kentucky of correspondence is send ¬ ing King out reports and notions that lean towards Brown Dicks Falsetto Faginia Vagina colt Ulysses as the probable winner of the Kentucky Derby The colt is doing and working well So he did last spring Yet as a twoyearold toehold Ulysses won but one race in six starts Captive Frontier and Rowarder Broader were as good or better work horses Ben Brush then his stable companion could play with Ulysses and Bon Brush will be in that Derby The slop and slobber of the turf as printed is often costly Brush by the way isnow snow an 8 to 5 favorite in the future books The price too is a natural one Dunois Dubois a bay colt in the Scoggan Slogan stable and homo bred has won both his races at Newport in commanding style Horsemen there think him the colt of the season Ho is by the English horse Florist imported by the firm out of Becky B by Longbow John McCaffertys eagle eye evidently overlooked Dunois Dubois when as was announced ho bought the selects of the Scog Cog ¬ gan Egan yearlings last fall Becky Bs the dam of George Beck a fast colt before he got notional Dunois Dubois beat a fair lot Saturday ilA Gila furlongs with 113 pounds up in 55 seconds and an ap parantly arrantly better field still Monday last at half a mile in 504 on but a fair track The Blossom Cynthia H and Vanessa were behind him
