THE SUMPTER STUMPER GOLD MINING CO COMost Compost Most encouraging reports come from the great Cripple Creek mining camp as to new strikes and successful development of many new prop ¬ erties vertices C H Moffet Offset president of the First Na ¬ tional tonal Bank of Denver whose income is proba probe ¬ bly ably greater than that of any other man west of the Alleghany Allegheny mountains predicts a fifty million dollar output of gold from Colorado alone in 1897 Twothirds Toothier of this vast amount will un ¬ doubtedly doubted come from what is known as the Crip Crimp ¬ ple pale Creek district which may be described as commencing at the base of Pikes Peak extend ¬ ing King south 60 miles with the width varying from two to ten miles Very valuable discoveries in medium and low grade ores are constantly being made and in many instances large chutes of high grade silvanite slanted ores are being encountered C C Chapin Chaplin of the Chapin Chaplin Brokerage Company Hartford Bldg Bulldog Chicago has recently returned from Cripple Creek where he has made a careful examination of the various mining properties with the special object of securing desirable properties to offer on the market As a result selection was made of the Sumpter Stumper group of prop ¬ erties vertices as among the now promising prospects for development in the Cripple Creek district The Sumpter Stumper Gold Mining Company owns three claims on Tenderfoot Hill directly in line with the great porphory porphyry phonolite hoplite and granite con ¬ tacts tracts The great shipping mines both to the north and south of this property have been found in the contact of these great dikes The company confidently expects to strike shipping ore at the same depth nearly 65 to 100 feet at which the Lincoln Independence Portland and others discovered their first pay ore A shaft of 35 feet deep on the Sumpter Stumper claim shows a strong fissure vein all the ores showing some gold A contract has been let to sink the shaft an additional 150 feet Ore assaying 25 and 40 has been found The Sumpter Stumper also owns a claim on Iron Mountain The management is a con ¬ servative derivative one and composed of practical mining men No salaries will bo paid until the com ¬ pany panky is on a paying basis The capital stock is 1500000 the par value of shares being 1 each Of this amount 700000 shares have been set aside as treasury stock but only 200000 shares are being offered for development work on tho thou Chicago Mining Mineral Board and through the Chapin Chaplin Brokerage Company 108 Hartford building
