SPLENDID CARD AT PIMHCO SPORT OF HIGH QUALITY IN SIGHT FOB MEET ING OPENING TODAY Novelty Named to Start in Colts End of Katroa KatroaStakes Stakes and Bashti to Go in Filly Divisioa Program Presents Metropolitan Aspect Baltimore lid October 14 The fall meeting of tin Maryland Jockey Club which is scheduled to begin tomorrow promises the greatest sport wit ¬ nessed in this section since the old days at Piinllco when the best horses in America gathered at this famous racing ground The program Is certainly the l est over offered by the Maryland Jockey Club highclass fields being entered in all seven of the races The Matron Stakes which will be run in two divisions one for fillies and the other for colts and geldings is of course the stellar attraction The best youngsters developed during the present racing season are named to go in this stake the filly end bringing out a field of seven and the same number being named to go in the division for colts All the candidates have received their final preparation for the stake over the Piinllco course dockers and horsemen all go on record with the opinion that both races are open affairs affairsMany Many applications from bookmakers for space in the betting enclosure have been turned down by the club and the old policy of restricting the number to thirtyfive will be adhered to Zeus toZeus and Novelty have been named by S X Hll dreth in the colt end of the Afatron but rumor has it that Zens will be his sole representative The latter has worked in brilliant fashion for the stake while Novelty has not shown any too well in his trials Naushon has been going along well and trainer Healey is confident that he will run a cred ¬ itable race In the filly end Bashti will attract th most attention and probably will win LoveNot which arrived from Lexington recently will have an extensive following while James Rowes Wrap will not lack for supiwrters The horses will be called to the post foe the first race at 215 and when occasion warrants the program will be made up of seven races which probably means that this number will prevail dur ¬ ing meetingFrank the entire meeting Frank J Bryan K C Smith H P Conkling M M Malioney Harry Price and the other officials who will take part in the meeting are ali ready on hand H I Pelz secretary of the West cliester Racing Association is also here and will look after the Matron Stakes for his association James Rowe arrived yesterday and will remain for the meeting It Is his first visit to Pimlieoin some years and he was much impressed with the many improvements made by the club Harry clubHarry Rites is due to arrive from Latonia tonight with the horses owned by Dr Cromwell Earl Linnell came yesterday from Fort Erie with his string Other prominent horsemen on the ground include Capt V F Presgrave Thomas Healey with II T Wilson Jrs string John Wha len trainer for August Bebnont S C Hiidreth James Rowe Thomas Welsh William H Karrick Frank Gardner William Garth J Woods Garth James Fitzsimmons Nat Byer Matt Feakes W P Burch John Hyland Simon Healy Theodore F Coles R J Walden A G Weston J A Bennet and Richard F Carman CarmanJockeys Jockeys Carroll Shilling Eddie Dngan G Archi ¬ bald J Glass Musgrave Gross J Reid and Gold ¬ stein will be seen in the saddle Bntwell was ex ¬ pected here to ride Heatherbroom but as yet he lias failed to appear Gross will probably be given the mount mountTextile Textile spread a hoof yesterday and will be put out of training until next year E yearE R Bradley is due to arrive from Louisville tonight Jockey J Reid is coming on with him to ride LoveNot tomorrow tomorrowFitz Fitz Herbert was on the track this morning taking his usual daily gallop The sturdy son of Ethelbert is going as sound as a bell and looks to be in splendid shape Olambala the star of the Wilson stable has been retired for the season seasonR R F Carman has purchased the twoyearold Rogon 1200Osorine from the Belmont stable for 1200 Osorine which broke down at Fort Faie will be shipped to her owners farm In Virginia and will go into the stud
