. ; 4 FREDERICK G. PAT FARRELL Arlington-Washington racing secretary has arrived in Chicago to begin preparations for the coordinated summer meeting opening on June 24. Racing Secretary Farrell Arrives for Summer Meets Arlington-Washington Official Joined by Assistant, Lou Eilken Arlington Parks official family Tuesday grew by two with the arrival of racing secretary Fredrick G. "Pat" Farrell and his associate, Louis H. Eilken. They immediately plunged into preparations for the opening-day program, June 24, and for the remainder of the 65-day coordinated Arlington Park-Washington Park silmmer campaign. Already on hand were David Stevens, manager of the mutuels department, and Duke Penter, stall superintendent. Farrell is starting his first season as a full-fledged Arlington-Washington racing secretary. He is a former jockey with a long family background in thoroughbred racing and has held virtually every official position at a race track. He served this past year as assistant to Frank E. "Jimmy" Kilroe at Arlington-Washington and at ThistleDown, Laurel,. Tropical Park, Gulf-stream Park, Hialeah and Pimlico. Eilken also was an assistant to Kilroe in 1953. After serving in an official capacity at Santa Anita last winter, Eilken attended The Jockey Clubs school for officials under Marshall Cassidy and has just completed that course. Both Eilken and Farrell will be headquartered at Arlingtons downtown office, 141 W. Jackson Blvd., the remainder of this week and will set up shop at Arlington Park, Arlington Heights, 111., next Monday.
