RAYS PRIDE saved ground from the start, disposed of FINE FIDDLE entering the stretch, then held on determinedly to withstand STAR K. The latter, outrun to the last quarter mile, finished strongly but could not overtake the winner. RIDDLETON was unable to better his position when set down through the stretch. FINE FIDDLE raced forwardly placed for a half mile, then weakened. ROYCE lacked early foot. HYPOSTYLE began poorly, losing all chance. SOME FRIEND was far back throughout. BURGOO PLAY was through early. CRACKLETTE had early speed but failed to stay. ONE SWALLOW gradually improved position to the stretch; responded willingly when hard urged during the drive and, disposing of CELERITER, won going away. CELERITER went to the front early, set the pace until inside the stretch but could not hold the winner, although easily best of the others. JOLISAM, reserved to the final quarter mile, was unable to reach the top pair when set down in the drive. IN A SPIN tired after showing early speed. CALM BAY, on the outside for the stretch run, failed to rally when punished. WORK DONE had no mishap. TRUCE TALK raced well to the stretch but had nothing left for the drive.
