A French Decision on Betting Bookmaking at French races has been declared illegal by the Court of Appeal which declares that the only form of betting allowed by the law of 1891 in tho thou pari Paris mutual conducted by the rac race ¬ ing King societies themselves In the test case brought before it a bookmaker had offered odds in the paddock not in the field and all the bets registered worawith wraith regular client kpown known per s nally ally to him while the accounts were not set ¬ tled tiled on the course He was condemned to fifteen days imprisonment and a fine of 3000 Jfrancs Francs The Chamber of Deputies will be asked to change the law
