ALL SHEFFIELD FAVORITES FAIL The last day at Sheffield was disastrous to favorites Of them only Dick Behan Bean in the last race got even second place The weather was warm the track fast and the attendance larger than usual usualThe usual The opening event was a mile for maidens and very poor ones went to the post Siddeolus Hideous was made favorite with Scamp second choice The best looking of the lot was Little Eyes a three yearold earl daughter of Little Minch Inch Little Scotch and Karrabu Arab C made the running but Vigars Cigars came fast at the end and won handily from Karruba Aruba C with the favorite favoriteIn favorite In the twoyearold toehold race Loulou Lolo R was an odds on favorite Nannie Nannies Dunn and Henry Clay were fractious at the post and delayed the start Loulou Lolo R was off in front but Vite Vitae lei at the threequarters treasurers In the stretch Dr Nen Men man took command and coming on won han dily dilly by three lengths Vite Vitae beating Loulou Lolo R neck for the place placeThere placate There was a wild plunge on His Brother in thi thin third rape and hardly anything else wa backed Laura C and His Brother made thi thin running the last named leading into the stretch At the aighth eighth pole Airtight came up and drawing away won easily by eight lengths Ida Wagner beating Laura C a head for the place placeUrania placeman Urania Urbana who was an even money favorite in the 1 five furlongs acted badly at the post Virgie Virile Dixon led to the head of the stretch followed by CTncas Catnaps and Simmons At the finish Tineas Tines won handily by a length with Virgie Virile Dixon second a neck in front of Urania Urbana UraniaThere Urbanite There were only five starters in the steeple chase and St Brandon was favorite Miles i Standish led nearly all the way round the first time when St Brandon went to the front In taking the water jump in the second round St Brandon stumbled on landing when well in the lead and fell The horse got up and made a break for the jockey board running into the fence where he was caught Blakely Blackly was not hurt Shoemaker hold the lead for two jumps when Hercules went to the front and remaining there to the end won by five lengths from Shoe ¬ maker the other two beaten off offDick office Dick Behan Bean was favorite for the seven fur ¬ longs Rapier and Dick Behan Bean raced together all the way up to the sixteenth polo whore Dick Behan Bean had the advantage Dorsey Dose however brought up Ragner Ranger on the outside with a rush and beat Dick Behan Bean half a length with Rapier third a head back Messrs Messes Brown and Caesar Young of the Villmar Villa Stable ran the winner up to 900 500 over her entered price She was bought in for 905 It was an expensive win for the stable as it did not back the mare for a dollar Lakeside commences today and the card is a strong one The meeting between Caesarian and Redskin in the seven furlongs race should be interesting
