MORTE MOTE FONSB FONTS WINS WELL It rained smartly yesterday afternoon but not enough to dull the racing at Ibgalls Signals Park A good card was offered and a crowd of 3000 was out A handicap at nine furlongs was the rac race ¬ ing King piece of the afternoon and although but five started it furnished a clever contest Harry Shannon carrying top weight 111 pounds was the favorite around even money but he found tho thou task of giving away so much weight to Morte Mote Fonse Fosse a hard one in the rain and slop at least and although he ran a cracking good race second was the best he could do Master Magnusson Manson rode the Ezell Bezel horse at 103 pounds and handled him beautifully Fonse Fosse was al ¬ ways within striking distance of the leaders and when called on in the stretch thai horse re ¬ sponded pounded gamely and won with a bit to spare spareA spare A rattling finish came out of the second race a three and one half furlong dash for twoyear twofer olds The Cheat was favorite but got into a mix up at the start and could not get into his stride again The Cheat opened at a short price but receded to 4 to 1 at post time Then there was a heavy play on him It drove his price down to 6 to 5 The Professor won in the last few strides from Elsie Bramble and Mies Miles Hoy Holy HoyForseen Hayforks Forseen Foremen played by wise money took the first event rather handily Simmons at evens and less walked home and Newsgatherer Newscaster a good thing scored in the closing seven furlong dash
