EASTERN HORSEMEN SPLIT SPLITNEW SPINE NEW YORK Dec 17 A crisis was reached Thursday in racing circles when the Horse ¬ mens means Protective Association held a meeting The result does not predict a brilliant fu ¬ ture turret for that body The meeting was called to act upon a letter received from the Jockey Club asking that the Horsemens Horsemen Protective Association disband as it was deemed by President Belmont and the other members of the Jockey Club to be inimical to the welfare of the turf turfSixty turfs Sixty members were present when President Hyland Holland called the meeting to order He made a few remarks in the course of which he denied that the association was in any way antagonis antagonism ¬ tic to the Jockey Club but said it was doing everything possible to work in harmony with the senior body of racing racingA racing A vote was then taken as to the continuance of the association and it resulted in a victory for those who favored the continuance of the as ¬ sociation spoliation by 40 to 15 When the vote was an ¬ nounced bounced President Hyland Holland said that he would resign from the organization His course was followed by the entire Board of Directors con ¬ sisting sitting of A J Joyner Joiner Fred Taral Aral J J Hyland Holland and James Rowe RoweThis Growths This action caused consternation in the ranks of the horsemen but after some delay a new board was elected consisting of William Duke J Bennett C Littlefield Littered Jr and I C Garside Airside The latter is also secretary of the association The vacancy caused by Hylands Holland resignation was not filled
