effort was made yesterday to secure the reinstatement of the Weir outfit but it was of no use The first special ambassador to put in an appearance at the track was Henry Schultz better known in ring circles as Dutch Henry the proprietor of a New York bird store the racing partner of Frank D Weir and foreign poolroom commis commies ¬ sioner sinner for the same gentleman With tears in his voice Henry told a pipe story that was a dream in its way Ho was so overcome with his emotion that it took considerable time for him to get down to the details of hiSj hiS beautiful fairy story He said that two unknown men claiming Baltimore as their place of habitation sought him out and requested him to place 600 on Jersey Boy for them The names of these two angels vrere reared not divulged Henry evi Levi ¬ dently dentally being shy a Baltimore directory or two Now Henry being wise thought he would fol fool ¬ low his Baltimore friends tip and ho chipped in to the tuno tuna of 400 making the pot 1000 in all It just goes to show what a trustful nature Henry has Of course he would bet 100 on any old thing for instance the rising of the sun in the morning But despite the weight of this evidence the hard headed Executive Committee refused to grant absolution to the jobbers It is just possible that the committee may have been in ¬ fluenced flounced in its action by the report of Mr Ed ¬ ward Marks one of the owners of the track who made a little investigation on his own ac ¬ count He learned that the New York and Brooklyn rooms stood to pay out 25000 on Jersey Boy that as a matter of fact this poor skate which had been given away to a colored rubber as being of no earthly account had been the best played horse of the season Just think of those babies betting all that money unless they had an ace or two in the hole Philadelphia Inquirer
