RICHARD JS HANDICAP The rain fell in torrents after the second race at Lakeside yesterday The last two races wore over a track that had a covering of sloppy mud The biggest crowd of the season was out The ring did pretty well for itself though it had bits of pain painA pain A handicap at five and a half furlongs was the main racing piece and nine speedy horses faced the starter Flotow Lotto was the opening favorite around 8 to 5 but before post time Richard J heavily back was the even money choice After Peter McCue McClure and Graziella Grazie had raced them ¬ selves and others into submission Richard J came away and won easily easilyPearl easily Pearl after her defeat through carelessness on Friday scored a clever victory in the last race She was heavily played at 3 to 1 The filly got away poorly wore her field down and beat Czarowitz Carbonize on the post postThe apostate The defeat of Daily Racing Form in the second was a set back for the public He was heavily and consistently backed at 8 to 5 but from where he got away had no earthly and hardly a heavenly chance to win The colt is a bad actor his mother was of his mental pat ¬ tern and is consequently not a good horse from a speculative point of view Mulvihill Mulish Skillman Skill Mitt Boyken Broken and Deer foot won the other races None had any sparks about them
