NOTES OF T5IE TURF TURFThere Furthered There appears to be considerable doubt as to whether there will be a fall meeting at Oakley Ankle this year That there has been no official announcement that such a meeting is to be held in the light of the fact that there is so much talk to the contrary only serves to strengthen the belief that the gates of the hilltop track are not to be thrown open to the public again this year Not only has there been no official an ¬ nouncement nonevent of a fall meeting but mofo moo in ¬ dividual dividable members of the Cincinnati Jockey Club when questioned in regard to the mat ¬ ter tear instead of declaring positively that a late meeting will be given simply say that the matter has never as yet been considered This itself may be regarded as significant in view of the fact that four stakes for the fall meeting were closed in January Ordinarily the fact that stakes had been closed would be considered as evidence that a meeting would be held but not so in the case of Oakley Ankle As no entrance foes were charged to the stakes in question it would be an easy matter to declare them off For that matter they could be run off if neces nieces ¬ sary scary at Latonia Antonia The fact that racing about Cincinnati has been greatly overdone the past two or three years has become so plainly evi Levi ¬ dent that no great surprise would be occasioned if the Oakley Ankle people should decide to quit for the year The fact that they have closed their downtown office in the Neave Eave Building has itself caused no little comment Cincinnati Enquirer Most of the horses that ran in the second race at Gravesend Graves yesterday are Suburban candi candid ¬ dates and the result seems to give Peep oDay today an outside chance at least He only has 110 pounds to carry in the big race and as ho has been working remarkably well of late that feature backed by yesterdays result will no doubt make him one of the starters
