NOTES OF THE TURF The announcement that M E Walden thinks of taking the colt Billy Mason to Montana to try for some of the shortdistance shortlist purses brings up the suggestion that the Anaconda and Butte tracks are remarkably good places to take in with horses gifted with a high order of speed which they are able to maintain only over a short route Short dashes of three eighths and a half mile are very popular with Montana patrons of racing and are always the medium of tremendous speculation With such colts as Richard J Dave Waldo Weald or others of their extraordinary turn of speed no end of money could be carried away from those tracks The meeting at Anaconda began last Saturday and some sixty odd days of racing remain to be disposed of on the circuit composed of Ana ¬ conda coda Butte and Hamilton HamiltonThirteen Hamilton Thirteen stakes to be run at the Harlem meet ¬ ing King which begins directly after the Washington Park meeting ends have been announced They close July 18 They are on the added money system the sums added ranging from 750 to 1500
