race and was strongly ridden Barrett Barrette took him in down the back stretch and thus avoided the early pace He never made a move until the eighth pole and then came with a rush The Manxman Mamma ran his usual good race He is more than a useful horse can carry weight and has courage He was worked out a mile in 1 42 after the race Traverser Traverse seems to bo getting good He seemed to be winning at the sixteenth pole but weakened right at the end Hurly Burly and Dave Waldo Weald raced each other to pieces the first five furlongs Both tired badly and were staggering at the finish The race caused considerable talk From a time standpoint it should Both Hurly Burly and Dave Wajdo Wad have run much faster with more weight up This is one of the many queer things of horse racing though meeting Macy Marcy is as game as they make them He tried hard every inch of the way He simply met his superior Through the stretch he bore in a trifle and three different times Burns had to Jay his whip aside and straighten him out with his hands Few horses after being carried so fast and getting the punishment this colt did would hardly gamelyScratched have stood it as gamely Scratched Hugh
