HORSES AT SARATOGA SARATOGAKelston Saratoga Kelston Keelson of the New York Morning Tele Telex ¬ graph has been inspecting the racing situation at Saratoga and here is what he has to sayih say Wednesdays edition about the outlook Since Sunday I have made a tour of nearly all the stables and while nearly all of our east ¬ ern Bern horses have done well since their arrival at Horse Haven the great majority of them look as if they wanted keying up a bit before they will show at their best Trainers tell me that they have been handicapped by the condition of the track On Monday morning it was cer Acer ¬ tainly taxingly very rough going and it was little wonder that trainers were afraid to do anything beyond threequarter treasurer speed gallops But with the har char HORSES AT SARATOGA Continued from 1st Page rows at work from 9 oclock o'clock until noon and a drying wind in the afternoon the going was wonderfully improved today and by constant working it can be kept iu fairly safe condition although there is no doubt that the track really wants to be graded anew anewThere anywhere There are already about 400 horses on hand The following trainers are hero with their strings CBoyle Boyle W Smith T J Healey Haley P Wimmer Swimmer J D Smith L Stuart J M Morris J J Marklein Marlin W Began F McCabe F Brown T Welch Matt Allen Henry Bondy Body Matt Feakes Fakes F E Gardner W Porter W Wallace C Hughes S T Booker Paul Miles Pat Covellie Overlie George Jennings Mike Hogan T Griffin George Miller Henry Harris Walter Rollins Collins W Walker Lew Blew Elmore Elmo J F Cald Scald well J Fayline Falsie Alec Covingtou Coving and J J McCafferty McCaffertyThere There are quite a few sick horses but nearJy nearby all of them were on the sick list on their arrival Henry Bondys Bonds string of ten the property of S S Brown are all pretty sick ana the best 2yearold in the lot died shortly after arriving at Horse Haven She was full sister to that good mare Performance by Troubadour Matinee MatineeMomentum Matinee Momentum in Matt Feakes Fakes string is on the shelf having pulled up very lame a week ago He is however on the mend and it is to be hoped he will soon ba wearing colors as he is a bit more than useful usefulArmament useful Armament in Walter Rollins Collins string has also been on the ailing list Sir Walter looks well but as yet has done nothing beyond good open galloping exercise exerciseHandball exercise Handball in Frank McCabos McCabe string looks to have freshened up wonderfully and the chances are that this Hanover horse may show his 2yearold form before the season is much older olderOf older Of the 2yearolds from the Metropolitan Dis Dais ¬ trict strict the most improved I have seen so far are Ahom Ahem in W Smiths string and His Lordship muscular condition has sharpened wonderfully and the improvement in his action in front is surprising as he now travels close to the ground and with his long reach in front and great propelling power I look for this son of Sir Dixon and Roseville to be not only danger ¬ ous onus in the Futurity and other fall events but his chances of developing into a grand racehorse next season seem to me only a question of health as he is a sound grand constituted colt coltHis colitis His Lordship which is by Rayon dOr doer out of Sallie McClelland Macmillan has also come on wonder ¬ fully in the last three weeks and the sharpen ¬ ing King up process has certainly improved the ap ¬ pearance parlance of this always good looking colt and as there is no doubt as to his having a fine turn of speed it is little wonder that his owner and trainer feel rather sweet on the coles coleus chances for the Futurity His fastest work so far has been five furlongs in 1 04 and six furlongs in 1 21 The intention is to sendhim sending to the post a couple of times before the close of the Saratoga meeting so that something will be known of i his calibre caliber before Futurity day Like Alarm His Lordship is certainly a big able good look ¬ ing King colt and looks all over the makings of a racehorse j SBookers Bookers Futurity candidates Sanford and j Dr Parker are also coming on in the right manner Dr Parker being perhaps the most im ¬ proved of the two But Sanford was so highly tried that both owner and trainer pin their faith to him as likely to be heard from in fall stake events eventsPlaudit events Plaudit in W Hogans Hogan string has done well since his arrival here and looks to me as if he is a hundred pounds heavier than on Realiza Realize ¬ tion ion day Geisha and Miss Miriam have also put on flesh Indeed aJl al of Hogans Hogan horses look exceptionally well and it is worthy of note that since the commencement of the season this young trainer has made an excellent rec recd ¬ ord Ford with the horses he has sent to the post T Welchs Welch horses all look well and he will do to follow this meeting meetingMatt meeting Matt Allen who has been here for some time is likely to be heard from shortly as he has smartish smarts 2yearolds in his string Thais Placid The Rose Tranquil and The Bouncer are in good fettle and are very promising sorts W H Clark whose string Mr Allen is handling has purchased from McChessney McKesson Co the 3yearold Banastar Banister and a very useful kind of horse he is isCass miscasts Cass Sloan is here having been engaged to ride the Sydney Paget Page horses for the balance of the season The latest stables to arrive are those of E 3 Gardner and T Ryan which came in this morning
