FITZGERALD TRIES TO RESIGN NEW YOEK YOKE Sept 13 Directly after the de ¬ cision scission of the Junior Champion Stakes today Starter Fitzgerald tendered his resignation A delay of an hour and a half had disagreeably marked the race and the western crack W Overton Overtone had been left at the post An hours delay had also been a feature of a previous race The stewards after deliberation re ¬ fused to accept the resignation and directed Starter Fitzgerald to resume tho thou use of the starting gate if he chose to do so and to use such other means in starting as his judgment might dictate tending to secure more effective action in dispatching fields from the post
