BROOKLYN HANDICAP ENTRIES. "Best entry yon ever saw," is what Secretary Mclntyre telegraphed last night abont the Brooklyn Jockey Club stakes that closed Monday. In view of the splendid array of good horses published here as entries to the Brooklyn Handicap, he may well afford to feel jubilant. Fifty-one are here named as against forty-three at a similar date of the closing of entries last year. Several entries drifted in then after the iirst publication of entries as will no doubt be the case this year, but substantially the list is complete and a glance will show that it comprehends nearly all of the high-class handicap material of the year. It is noticeable that such very fast mares as Briar Sweet, Imp, Napamax, Azucena, Lambent, and Miss Marion are among the entries. In Tiew of the detraction to which the sex has been subject for a year er so it would be a touch of horse jnstice if one of this swift sextette should carry off the glory and honor of the race, a difficult thing, however, for a mare at . such an early, date as that annually set for the decision of the Brooklyn. It is evident from the presence of Jean Berand, Ahom, Autumn, Filigrane, Hungarian, Diminutive, Greatland, Kingdon, Mr. Clay, King Barleycorn, Marble-head, Miss Marion and Ordnung that owners have not overlooked the conceded fact that conditions are such that three-year-oids will have unusual opportunities in the big handicaps this year. The entries are as follows: Horses. Age. Horses. Age. Algol 5 Ahom 8 Autumn 3 Aeucena 4! Banastar 4 Ben Holladay 6 Box 5 Briar Sweet 4 Candleblack 4 Charentus 5 Diminutive 3 Don dOro 5 F. F.
