NOTES OF THE TURF. A. H. and D. H. Morris horses started 141 times in 1898, were first twenty-nine times, second twenty times, third twelve and unplaced eighty times. Their winnings were 2,785, of which Bowling Brook won 3,000, including ,000 in plate; The Friar, ,670; Mirthful, ,260; Pres-tidigitatrice, ,945; Filigrane, ,550; Caoutchouc, ,735 and Duke of Middleburg, 52,700. Jockey Spencer was given thirty days on the ground for what looked like foul riding on Horatio, but since the horse has bolted from side to side of the track under Buch a strong rider as Piggott, the idea is gaining ground at Frisco that Spencer was probably awarded a punishment that was unmerited. Espanita, dam of Manuel, recently slipped at Bashford Manor, twins both colts by Bob Miles, sire of Manuel. She will be bred back to Miles, who is now owned by James T. Williams, who raced him, and is at his owners farm near Eminence. Thoroughbred Record. Leon Loeb, formerly employed at Harlem, is assistant secretary at Tampa. Thomas Flynn is the starter. The judges have not yet been selected. , . i s
