ENGLISH HANDICAPS. American bred horses figure in a number of the important spring handicaps in England and some are weighted among the top notchers. In the Lincolnshire, annually, the first big event of the English flat racing season, Sandia is given 121 pounds, only five pounds less than the top weight. Other American horses engaged are Golden Bridge formerly Bridegroom II., 119, Berzak, 108, David II., 102, Archduko II., 96 and Muggins, 91. This race is a mile dash and if good, Archduko II. might have a chance. In the mile and a half Northamptonshire Stakes, Golden Bridge is given 122 pounds. In the City and Suburban Handicap at Epsom, about a mile and a quarter, Sandia is given 122 pounds, only one horse carrying more; Golden Bridge has 119 and C. F. Dwyers colt, Sly Fox, is seventh on the list with 116 pounds, being asked to give weight to a number of the best handicap horses in England. This colt i3 reported to be doing very well in his work, but on the basis of his performances in this country, has certainly been treated harshly. David II. is given 103 pounds and Bowling Green 84. In tho Kempton Park Great Jubilee Stakes, one mile, the American horses are Sandia, 120, Sly Fox, 119, Berzak, 110, Chinook, 105 and David II., 102. The Grand National Steeplechase to be run at Liverpool March 24 is conceded to be the greatest race in the world for the jumpers. In England it is annually provocative of nearly as much speculation as the Derby. The entries and weights this year are as follows : Mr. J. G.
