NOTES OF THE TURF. It was reported last fall that W. B. Letcher had assumed charge of H. L. Franks horses and would train and campaign them this year. It seems, however, that he had only engaged to look after them during the winter, and he has recently turned them over to J. E. Bedmon. who has been engaged as trainer by Frank, The horses, Senator Bland, Bitter Boot, E. Come, Mallakawa and Owyhee, are at the Latonia track and are reported to be in good condition for training. Besides these Bedmon also has hiB own horses, Serrano, John Havlin, Lucky Star, Tom Milsome and Ashlock to look after. At the New Orleans racetrack this afternoon Scully and Bush will sell a number of horses in training. The most important feature of the Bale will be the following draft from the stable of George J. Long: Romano, b. f, 2, by Yolante Alveritas ; Bahia, b, f , 2, by Pardee Countess ; T. C. McDowell has registered the name His Excellency own brother to Her Excellency for the chestnut two-year-old colt by Esher Excel-lenza, by Excel, and Walter Cleary for the bay two-year-old colt by Candlemas Kanawha, by Mortemer. The "news" of the dicker for Jockey OConnors services is becoming absolutely indecent. Pittsburg Phil has outbid G. C. Bennett 00, offering ,500 for the boys contract with Bill Daly, who is still considering offers or waiting for them. John Madden, who probably has the largest number of two-year-olds in training of any owner in America, considers the brothers to Frohsinn, Hastings and Eeenan the three best lookers in his bunch. George Cadwallader, of Covington, Ky., has bought Henry Miller, ch. c, by Onondaga Nellie G.; of Charles Moore, bay filly, by St. Savior Nettie Senora, and bay colt, by Spendthrift Aunie B, i
