THE WISCONSIN RACING HIM,. The full text of tho racing bill that is before the legislature of Wisconsin is given below. It has had two house readings and is beforo the Committee of State Affairs. Tho people of the State of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows: Section 1. Sections 4539b, 4539c and 4539d of the statutes of Wisconsin for the year 1898 are hereby amended by adding at the end of said section 4539d the following: "Provided, however, that the provisions of sections 4539b, 4539c and this section shall not apply to any races or contests of speed given by any fair or racing association or association formed under the provisions of section 1779 of the statutes of Wisconsin for the year 1898, for a period not to exceed thirty 30 days in any one year; nor to pool selling upon any such races, which is hereby authorized when strictly confined to the enclosure within which said races are given," so that said section when amended shall read as follow : "Section 4539d. It shall bo unlawful for any person to resort to or become an inmate of any room, shed, tent or place upon any public or private ground within which is carried on any of the acts or things mentioned in Bection 4539b, and any person found guilty of violating any of the provisions of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than fifty dollars or by imprisonment in the connty jail not exceeding thirty days. Provided, however, that the provisions of sections 4539b, 4539c and this section shall not apply to any races or contests of speed given by any fair or racing association or associations formed under the provisions of section 1779 of the statutes of Wisconsin for the year 1898, for a period not to exceed twenty 20 daye in any one year ; nor to pool selling upon any such races, which is hereby authorized when strictly confined to tho enclosure within which said races are given." Section 2. All acts and parts of acts contrary to tho provisions of this act are hereby repealed. Section 3. This act shall be in force from and after its passage and publication.
