NOTES OF THE TURF. The ten-year-old brown horse, Kilkenny, by Darebin Katrine, formerly the property of "Lucky" Baldwin, "Mr. Chamblett," and more recently owned by George B. Wales, was destroyed a short while ago. Kilkenny was speedy on the fiat and showed several excellent performances over the jumps while the property of Bostons best known turfman. T. H. Byan has shipped Dunois, Dont Skip Me, The Pride, Golden Link and a couple of two-year-olds from San Francisco to Memphis. From which it is plain he did not sell Dunois, and that this horse with only 100 pounds to carry will be hard to beat for the Montgomery Handicap if the long trip does not impair his speed. The first foal ever dropped at the New Orleans Fair grounds was born Thursday morning when the mare Ethel Lee, owned by Rufus Bush, foaled a bay colt by Midstar, The youngster attracted considerable attention. The three-year-old Compensation, by Tournament Citronella, is developing into a fine horse, and is by far the most bloodlike of his sires get.
