Ireland Bros., Elizabeth, Ky., have sold and shipped to L. C. Sloan, New Boston, 111., the bay horse Newton, ten years old, by Billet Vas-sar, by Virgil. Nowton at one time held the two-mile race record, 3 :27i, made at Washington Park. Dr. Catlett has been schooled to jump at Monmouth. He performs in brilliant fashion, and as no horse looks better than this now gelding does, there is every likelihood of his proving at the top of the heap between the flags.
