Lizzie McCarthy was helped but little by Burns when it came to a drive. Most of the two-year-olds seem to be afraid of the starting gate. Benita Brush showed a fine turn of speed. It was a terrific drive. The first two raced nose and nose the last sixteenth, Both boys rode splendidly. Leo Planter ran the best race. The weight made him weaken at the end. Prince McClurg made his run on the stable turn. Mona B. was outclassed. Leo Planter bad the best position throughout the race, saving ground on all tbe turns. Vandnsen stated after the race that a dog ran across the track in front of him, near the wire. This perhaps cost him the race.
