BROOKLYN TRIALS. I With the Brooklyn Handicap on for decision today, the following concerning the workouts of the horses, Thursday, will interest those concerned in the issue of the big race. A dispatch from New York says: "The seen* of training operations for the Brooklyn Handicap, to be ran at the Gravesend track Saturday was , changed today, with one exception, from Morris Park to the tracks at Gravesend and Sheeps-head Bay. The exception was the superb trial at Morris Park of Filigrane, which, with plenty of weight in the saddle, turned the mile and a half distance in 2 -.37*. The three-year-old Spurs accompanied Filigrane for a mile, at which point the eon of Galore and Fillette shook him off easily and won as he pleased. The track was fast, and the effort was one of the best ever seen at the big course. "At Gravesend, where the majority of the Brooklyn Handicap candidates are quartered, there were several finishing touches given to the runners who are to have a shy at the stake. The track not being on the fast side, nothing sensational in the way of speed was shown. "The fastest work of the morning at Brooklyn was furnished by the veteran trainer, Green B. Morris, when he sent Lanky Bob the mile and a quarter route in 2:09. The horse had more weight up than he is asked to carry in the handicap, and he did his task without turning a hair. A two-year-old broke with him at the start, and at the half mile he was picked up by the fast Murillo, who was beaten by the candidate at the finish by a short neck. " Matt Allen gave Banaster his preparation in the shape of a mile and a quarter trip in 2 :llt. and the horse was eager for his head all the way. The good-looking California mare, Fleur de Lis, with close to 123 pounds on her back, was sent the handicap distance in 2 :13*. The half was turned in 0:52; five furlongs, 1:03* ; six furlongs, 1:17* ; seven furlongs, 1:32*; mile, 1 :46; and the mile and an eighth in 2:00. " W. Showalters good runner, Box, did a mile and a quarter in 2:15*. "Bromley and Co.s Previous, which is well thought of by the trainers and railbirds who have seen him work, is quite ready for bis Brooklyn Handicap effort, and covered a mile and a quarter fighting for his head all the way in 2:19. "At Sheepshead Bay the Brooklyn Handicap candidates, which have been carefully prepared ior the event, were sent along at a nice rate. Algol was asked a mile and a quarter effort in 2 :12i, and tired badly at the finish, and the rail-birds say be will not do when the Brooklyn race is run. • "W. P. Burch sent his candidate, Thomas Cat, a mile and a quarter, with OLeary up, in 2 :10i . and the horse performed in a niee way. Harness and Broasmans good mare, Imp, who is quite ready for her effort tomorrow, trotted ana cantered. Bangle has received a steady preparation for the handicap. He has worked a mile on the i Sheepshead track and is fit. He was breezed a . half in :51 today. Ben Holladay was taken on the road for cantering work."
