After being shot out on the first turn Hamilton took his time abont making his run, t*hu3 avoiding the early pare He lost much ground by being on t lie outside fill the way but was the only horse not interfered with. Piccola should have won. Dapaa rode her like a new beginner. Ha was in a pocket most of the way and did not attempt to poll out and go around until the race was over. Then she came very strong, and was rapidly catching Defender II at the end The latter made a grand spurt from the eighth post and for an instant seemed to have a winning cbanca. Mallakawa is a counterfeit. Pat Garrett quit badly in the stretch. The rida on Native Sen ruined whatever chance he had of winning The boy was suspended 5or it. Heroics ran well as far as he went. She broke well on her striae and, setting a terrific pace, had the race won after goirg the first half. Pantland ran a gocd race. He had no excuses, otter than that the winner is batter than he is. Wi. uer — Ch. c, by Strathmore — Gladness. P« st 3 minutes. Start fair. Won driving to the limit ; second, third and fourth were driving just as hard. It was a smashing race and broke the track record. Most of tha outtide timers on the track caught the time 1 :254. Donald Bain is truly a speed marvel and also possesses stamina. Betiucnamp rode bini hard the last furlong. Brigade is a good horse but has been veiy poorly pieced. He vtould have won if the distai.ee had been a mi!e. Boney Boy, as usual, was right there. Eobart raced in b. hind his field under double wraps down the backstretch but when let down had nothing to respond with. This colt seems to race better in front. Queen of Song was slow to get away and could never get within striking distance of the leaders. Silvers evidently thought it was not a go ml pulled Jolly Roger up at the start. Winner— Ch. c, by Strathmore— Be le of the Highlands. Post 3 minutes. Start good for all but Sutton. It was a terrific drive between the first two; third and fourth were diiving slso. Isabay barely lasted long enough to win. He finished gamely under a weak ride. Elkin is in good form. He faltered on the turn for home, but came again. Narvaez whipped him hard through the last furlong. Sutton acted very badly at the poEt and was practically left. He ran all around his field and was coming like a cyclone at the finish. With an even break he would probably have vi.n. Henry Launt ran an improved race. Robert Bonr er was too much used in the Hist patt of it ar.d fell back in the stretch, Plantain cannot cany weight successfully. Scratched-127732Lobengula. Winner— t h. g, by Torso— Jess. Post 8 minutes. Start fair. Won driven out; second, third and fourth doing their best. Our Johnny came with a lush through the stretch and was going away at the end. It was a very inferior lot. Vaseline looked dangerous on the turn, but could not stall off tha winners rush. Barrier could Lot stand the pressure at the end and swerved badly. Hoya ran a good race and will improve from it. Balk Line started to make a runaway race of it, but quit badly after going three quarters. Onalaeka would be more useful on a milk route. Ratter got a flying start, was always in a good position, and did not take any chances at the end. He evidently knew the filly and started driving her as soon as he hit the stretch and stole a winning lead. Uarda was very tired and staggering at the end. Uncle Abb came very fast through tbe stretch. Isen hung when the pinch came. Cora Havill II showed a lot of speed. Maurice W. had no chance from where he got off.
