NOTES OF THE TURF. A London cablegram to tha New York World says: "The Tod Sloan incident at Ascot is entirely likely to end without criminal proceedings against those concerned. It is certain that ,000 was paid to the waiter who was struck with the bottle. For that sum he has unconditionally compromised the matter. The waiter is still seriously ill, and it ia likely he will never be the same man. One of the most prominent members of the Jockey Club very strongly favored having the affair thoroughly investigated, but the fact that during the week Sloan has worn the Prince- of Wales colors on Eventail seems to prove that the matter has b3en allowed to drop." The grand old gelding Parole occupies a stall in the yearling colt barn at Rancocas, and is turned out with them every night. Although now in hi3 twenty-seventh year, tho old horse lcoks sleek and fat, while his legs are absolutely without a blsmish of any kind. Up to date Ethelbert has started in twenty-two races, of which he has won eleven, been second seven times, third twice, and only twice unplaced, his earnings amounting to 2,260. He is beyond doubt a high class young racehorse. If subscribers will kindly send their names when they send in payment for subscriptions they will confer a favor on Daily Racing F6km. Jockey H. Martin arrived in London on July 5. He was met at tho Hotel Cecil by "Tod" Sloan, who had secured Martins jockey license.
