Malaise showed fine speed and ran a creditable race She was tiring badly at the end. Plccola finished stoutly. Lillian Reed should have baon third. She wa3 handicapped by the ride eha got. Winner Ch. f, by Aintree Qaick. Post 4 minutes. Start good. Won cleverly; the next four wero driving to the limit. Grazi-ella is consistent and is in grand form at present. She came from behind with a beautiful burst of speed in the stretch. Mathews rode the filly with Eklll. He placed her well throughout and luckily avoided all interferences. Canova weakened badly in the 1-st fifty yards and barely lasted lorg enough to get second place. Newsgatherer was tunning great gans at the finish and would have got second place in a few more strides. The latter was pocketed several times and generally poorly ridden. Abe Furst got away in a pocket and never really got clear until the last furlong and then he made a strong bid. Mark Opera Girl in slower company. Her race was better than the figures show here. Tenby appeased to be winning at the head of the stretch but could not stand the pressure at the end. Graziella pulled up qnite lame. Espionage, after baing badly bumped and interferea with on the far turn, came through the stretch like a whirlwind. She wa3 running away from her field at the end. Pay the Fiudler is an honest performer. Brigades perfoimance was a joke. He did not have speea enough to keep warm. Flick seemed to ba tryiDg the bast he knew how, bat did not have whip or spur to work with. In all of his races at Hailem heretofore Brigade, according to the judges official book, has been ridden with a whip. Everett, who rode tbe horsa at Hawthorne, says ho carried bath wIud and spur.
