GOSSIP OJS THE TURF. j Imps running down east has led to caustic criticism by the New York turf scribes. Last Wednesday her trainer, Charley Bro3sman, undertook to square matters by thrashing John Boden, a turf writer who had declared that the running of Imp this year did more to keep alive turfscandal than any other incident of racing. The turf writer was not much hurt but it will b9 a long while before Brossman recovers from the drubbing he received. He was a wreck when he was taken from the track. The track stewards had him up before them afterwards but after surveying him concluded to let him off with a reprimand. A dispatch touching the matter says : "A civil suit has been begun against Brossman, and as he is a nonresident of the state his mare will probably be attached as well as his winnings at Brighton, which have not yet been paid over. It is understood that Mr. Hitchcock of the stewards, inclined to more drastic punishment for Imps trainer, and thero,is no doubt that any other infraction of discipline will mean BroBsmans exile. The running of his maro is being looked into. Trainer Jennings says that Briar Sweets lameness will not be lasting. He will keep her in training, and hopes to have her ready for all the fall handicaps. May Hempstead also shows lame after strong work, but warms out of it in a race. Banastar, the Brooklyn Handicap winner, will be seen in the stakes at Saratoga. He 1b in fine form and ought to win with ease. Taral has gone to Saratoga to ride. He will remain at the springs during the month. CONTINUED ON SECOND FAQB, GOSSIP OF THE TURF. Continued from 1st Page. The New York World says that tho entire Fleischmann stable is for sale. The yonng men racing this string, it is said, are not in harmony. That is to say, one of the FleischmannB likes racing while the other has no use for it, and rather leans toward baseball and other athletic sports. The stable has not been extraordinarily successful this season, though it has paid its way with Maribert, Midsummer, Sakhrat and one or two others. These three two-year-olds would bring a big prico if offered for sale, and tho gossips say tbat the formal announcement of the auction and dissolution of partnership will soon be made.
