BENHEVILIES FAST SPRINT. There was good racing at Hawthorno yesterday and a big crowd for Monday was out. Benceville rsn six and one half furlongs in 1:20 which lowered the track record thres and three-quarter seconds. There was a number of speedy ones in the Benneville race, which was second on the program. At cost time Maceo and Helens Pet wpre about equal favorites at2i tol and 13 to 5. The field pot away at the first break, all together with the exception of Silver Tone who bolted. Helens Pet aDd Canova alternated in the lead to the stretch, where Benneville took command and after a brief drive to stall off Maceo won by about a length. The mile and a quarter event went to Harry Nutter, who was well handled by Bose. Jolly Roger, the 1 to 2 favorite, seemed stiff and sore sndwasnot in condition to do his best. He finished third. The steeplechase over the short course was nothing bat a cake walk for Boanerges. This horse takes kindly to jumping and is about the best timber-topper at tli9 track. He was favorite at 2 to 1. Pat Cleburne had no trouble in landing the first purse. San Cecelia cantered home with the fifth, and Fair Deceiver easily disposed of her field in the sixth event. This filly was en-tered for 00bat was run up to05 and bought in. J. H. Smith, owner of Tappan, was the runner-up. Molo was scratched by order of the judges in the last race. It seems that Willis Dnff or Duffs is training Molo, and as he was ruled off in California some time ago he ha3 no right to be handling horses.
