GOSSIP OF THE TURF. The sale of the imported stallioa Galore to W. H. Hopkins of Baltimore for 0,000 was the principal feature of the auction of thoroughbreds at Morris Park Monday. Morning Telegraph says that Mr. Hopkins is a wealthy resi dent of Baltimore, and is extensively interested in the iron industry. He has heretofore taken only a passive interest in turf affairs, but, like many other wealthy men, has recently concluded to go into the breeding and racing of horses more as a diversion than a business. He will doubtless prove a valuable acquisition to the turf, as his intention is to breed only on the best lines. The horses sold were the property of B. W. Walden and Son, A. H. and D. H. Morris and George Lindenberger. The prices realized were as follows: Galore, br. h, 14, by Galopin Lady Maura: W H Hopkins.....". 0,000 Silver Fox, b. h, 10, by 8t.
