ST. LOUIS NE W TRACK. Messrs. Cella, Adler and Tilles, the promoters of the proposed new race track.have made rapid progreea lately. Instead of dropping the matter after their failure to secure the Delmer Avenue site, the trio went ahead more energetically then ever. The local street railway people were responsible for the abandonment of the Delmer Avenue-Skinker Road site. Their inability to get together and make things pleasant for the track promoters caused Messrs. Cella, Adler and Tilles to seek another location for the proposed new track. The etreet railway Deople were let out of it altogether end the race track promoters made a thorough inspection of territory adjacent to the steam railway lines running through the county. Thr60 suit 6 bio sites for the proposed track were finally located and the selection of one of the three is to be made shortly. As soon as that part of the deal is settled the tiio will be in a position to make public their pln3 and go ahead with the project, eo they state. Speaking of the matter Wednesday, one of the trio said: "W e hope to close a deal for the ground on which the new track is to be built by the end of the week. Judge Clarks recent decision, holding that the breeders racing bill was constitutional, haB convinced me and my associates that racing is now on a thoroughly substantial basiB in the State of Missouri. We have already decided on putting up a first-class racing plant. The track will be a regulation mile affair, with all the innovations possible. Modern race track builders have perfected improvements of all sorts, which will enable us to construct a perfect plant. We will build stalls to accommodate 4C0 to 5C0 head of hordes. None of the purses will be less than 00, and our stakes, with few exceptions, will have fixed sums added to them by the association The exceptions will be several big fixtures, such as a 2-yeer-old event patterned after the Futurity, and a 3-year-old classic on the order of the Realization. "Capt. James H. Bees, of Memphis, is the man we have our eye on for the judges stand. The Captain will be the chairman of the Racing Stewards at New Orleans this winter. He made an enviable record in the stand at Hawthorne last summer. There is some talk of the Jockey Club bringing him east next season, but if our track is built we will bid as high as anybody for the Captains services. Several prominent horsemen have asked to be permitted to take stock in the new track, but we have not yet decided whether to let them in or not. In view of the fact that we are prepared to hang up as much money as any of the Chicago tracks, we have no fear of the reeult of a- clash with the Windy City." St. Louis Republic.
