CRESCENT CITY OPENING. Bering begins at New Orleans next Thursday and will centime until well along in March of rext year. Under the vigilant eye and rigorons discipline of Capt. Jas. H. Bees the sport there is bound to averege much more in accordance with what is denominated public form thanhas been the cafe in past seasons. A great array of horses is quartered at the track with enough good ones amen? them to aseure the best racing in the history of the track. On tbe first day of the meeting there will be five races, and the concitions of four tf these events are: First Race Purse 50, of which 0 to second, 5 to third; for S-i ear-olds and upward; 10 pounds below the scale; winners of a stake race in 1899, or of three or more races since September 25, to carry 10 pounds extra; of two races since that date, 5 pounds extra. Allowances: Non-winners since that date allowed 5 pounds. One mile. Becond Kace Purse 50, of which 5 to second, S15 to third; entrance S10 each; for 2-year-olds; 8 pounds below the Ecale; stako winners, or winners of three or more races since September 25, to carry 8 pounds extra ; beaten non-winners since September 25 allowed 5 pounds; beaten maidens. 8 pounds. Five furlongs. Third Race Selling; purse 50, of which 0 to second, 5 to third; for 3-year-olds and upward ; the winner to be sold at auction; horses entered to be sold for ,000 to carry weight for age; if entered for lesc, 1 pound allowed for each 00 to ,0C0; then 2 pounds for each 1100 to 00. Mile and one-oighth. Fifth Race Selling; parse 50, of which 5 to second, 5 to third: entrance 0 each; for 4-year-olds and upward that have started and not won two races since October 1; the winner to be sold at auction; hones entered to be Bold for S8C0to carry weight for age; if entered for less, 2 pounds allowed fcr each C0 to 00. Mile and seventy yards. The fourth event iB the Inaugural Handicap. The Inaugural handicap, purse ,5C0 for all ages, 0 to accompany the nomination, 5 additional to start. The Crescent City Jockey Club to add an amount sufficient to make the value of the stake ,5C0, of which ,000 to the first, 00 to the second, 00 to the third, the fourth to save their stake. Weights to be announced three days prior to the race. Acceptances to be named through the entry box the day preceding the race before 12 m. Those so name d to be liable for starting fee.
