Start good. Won in a drive of three. Burdock was strongly ridden and showed a wonderful turn of speed in the homestretch. Norf ord is an improving oolt and waa only bsaten in the last stride. Sisquoc weakened in the last furlong after a long drive with Marcn Seven. The latter got off flying and had no excuses. Billy Moore is fast but he tired in the mud. Rosalbra ran a good race. Imperious liked tha sticky mud and passed Montanns when they had gone less than three furlongs. Meadowthorpa closed gamely, Montanns ran a strong race but the ground lost in taking him to the inner rail in the homestretch cost him second place. Espionage was ridden hard through the last five furlongs but conld not get up. Tappan is not up to a hard race now. Merry Boy ran well for seven furlongs. Jennie Reid quit early. Silver Tone ran one of the moat phenomenal races ever run over Tanforan track. When the barrier went up he waa left forty yards or more. Burns closed steadily, got through on the inside, and had the race won a sixteenth from home. Sweet William ran his race and had no excuses. Tom Cromwell ran fast through the last qnarter. Earl Islington threw his shoulder out on the last turn. Rio Chico was pulled up by Vititoe, who probably thought it no go. Scratched 14854 Cyril, 108; 16051Racivan, 105. Wyoming seemed like a sure winner three furlongs from home but quit when challenged. Napamax was all but left and ran a fair race. Dunblane ranoutontho first. turn and was then sent along too fast.
