THE KENTUCKY DERBY. There are at present 82 eligible candidates for the Kentucky Derby of 1900 with each good two-year-old performera as Lieutenant Gibson, His Excellency, Colonel Roosevelt, Lamp-lighted, David Garrick, Waring, De Lacy, Thrive, Flannt, Eentncky Farmer, McMeekin, Star Bright, Florizar, Caviar, Sam Phillips, Greenock, Bonndlee, Edinborongh, Prince of Melbourne and Kentucky in the list. No doubt a large amount of dead timber will be cleared away March 1 when the final payment of 0 1b due, but so far as can ba estimated at this dis-tant date the prospect for a good and well balanced field is ot the most cheerful character.
