At the weights Ida Ledford outclassed her Held and was never fully extended. She is a good lilly but has oue bad fault and that is acting badly at the post. San Dnrango ran much better than he did on Friday and his race was a good one. La Masoota was shot off at the start and never got clear until the strotch was reached, when she finished fast. Knnja was the victim of a had rule. Scratched - .17675iQuaver. 100; U7670iMiss Shauley, 98; 17639-Round O, 91. Ida Ledford. place, out. San Durante, place, S to 5; show, 3 to 5. Winner— Ch. g. by Inspector B.— Landslip. Weut to post at 3:10. At post S minutes. Start good. Won driving to the limit ; second, third amd fourth were also under keen pressure. Small Jack was presented with a Hying start and was lucky throughout. As the race was run, Battus. Queen Dixon and Lelia Barr should have beaten him. Battus suffered from a miserable ride. Queen Dixoa was sharply shut off down the back-stretch and was also pocketed all through the final quarter. Leppinrs ride may be excused on the ground that he broke a stirrup. Lelia Barr was off badly and much used early in getting up. This naturally told on her, and she hung in the last twenty yards after making a strong bid. Small Jack, place. 2 to 5: show. out. Battus, place, 2 to 1 ; show, evens. Queen Dixon, show, 7 to 10. Lelia Barr. place, evens ; show, 3 to 10. *T THIRD RACE— 1 Mile and 70 Varus. Winner — Br. f. by Quicklime — Semaphore. Went to post at 3:54. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easing up; the next three were under full sail. Shrove Tuesday fairly flew under the light weight. She was best as the race was run and judiciously ridden. Strangest was rated in behind and made a much better showing than he did when last out. Clay Poynter ran as if short. He seemed to be going well in ■ hand down the backstretch but on the turn, when Rose called upon him. he had nothing left to respond with. Weight and everything considered Lord Neville was outclassed : at that lie ran a good race. Scratched— 17674 Farondelle. 107. Corrected wights— Shrove Tuesday. 85: Lord Neville. 115. Free Lady was lucky, well ridden, took the shortest ronte and came away without an effort in tho stretch. It was a close fit for second place. Tyrba got that position in the last twenty yards by showing a sharp turn of speed and much gameness. By George and Dumbarton both hung under pressure. W. C. T. ran a fine race. He got a lazy ride and should be marked for early action. This race will be a benefit to him.
