Winner— B. g, by Pardee — Meadow Lark. Went to post 2:15. Off at the first break. Start good. Won driving hard; next three driving almost as hard. Battus was lucky and barely lasted long enough to win. He was out to the last ounce and wobbled a lot under Miller in the last twenty yards. Boomerack is a game youngster of the rough and ready sort. He didnt have speed enough to keep up the first part but from the head of the stretch home he gained gradually and had the distance been a trifle further he would have won. Benson Caldwell was slow to get in his stride and met with sharp interference on the far turn. He never really got straightened out until the stretch, then he did nothing sensational. This fellow was a false favorite. Curd Gillock broke flying and showed u fine turn of speed. Scratched— 17563-!Cinera, 103 ; 17593 Servant, 105. Overweights — Princess Tatyana, 4 pounds. Went to post at 2:50. Off at the second break to a good break. Won well in hand ; second and third under keen pressure. Sam Fullen was the best and had an easy time of it. He is u fair sort of a colt and is in good condition. He seemed to swerve about the sixteenth post but aa he was not hard pressed at that point he may have shied. Sidbow was tiring badly through the stretch and would have been beaten for place in a few more strides. Cariboo was running under a stout pull down the backstretch, but was jumped on and cut from behind shortly after passing the half mile ground. This caused him to stop for an instant but he came again in the stretch and everything considered ran a good race. The race was always between the first three. Winner— B. c. by Barnes— Remnant. Went to post at 3 :20. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easing up ; second and third were doing their best. Hoods Brigade was at his best and always held his field safe. Martin rode him nicely, too, He allowed Woodtrice to make the pace and never made a move until the three furlong post was reached. Then he shot to the front like a flash. Woodtrice ran consistently. Thomas Carey improved a lot over his last race. The price was more liberal today. Monk Wayman can win as soon as the track gets heavy. He showed a lot of speed, and stopped only because his bad legs became hot in the final quarter. Prince Blazes was beaten off all the way. He looks good, but is evidently nowhere near ready. Scratched— 17786Red Pirate, 107. Hoods Brigade, place, 3 to 5 ; show, out. Woodtrice, place, evens ; show, 1 to 2. Winner— Ch. f, by Bramble— Fidelity. Went to post at 3 :50. At post 8 minutes. Start good. Won driving to the limit; the nexi, three were driving just as hard. Alice B. weaved her way through the big field gamely and g s s § t L . ! " -. f 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 I ! ] gained a well earned victory. She was well handled and lucky. Barney Saal got a flying start, showed a lot of speed, but weakened in the last twenty yards. He was well ridden, took the shortest route and ran his very best race. Northumberland broke flying on the outside and was always a contender. Irma S. was interfered with often and this considered ran a good race. Zacatoso ran a fair race. Kirk acts better than he used to at the post and can win a race when the track gets softer. Loyaletta emit in the stretch. So did Mr. Clay and Wertheim. Mr. Clay had worked a fast five-eighths and on the strength of this was made favorite. Scratched— 17700-JTyrba, 114. Alice B., place, 2 to 1 ; show, evens. Barney Saal, place, 2 to 1: show, evens. Winner — Ch. g, by Chance — Outscramble. Went to post at 4 :25. At post 7 minutes. Start good. Won handily ; second and third were doing their best. Chancery, after being nearly thrown over the fence on the first turn, ran a good, game race. Enos, on Rosavannah, cut directly across the track at the start and came near causing an accident. By doing this Rosavannah shut all the others off. but got a clear path and the rail herself. This accounts for her being second. Annowan ran a fair race. Tommy OBrien could not outrun a fat man in the first half but at the end was running over horses. Ray H. showed fine speed but stopped as if short. Both The Jefferson and Cabrillo seemed to have a chance on the far turn but neither could stand the pressure at the end. The winner was run up to 00 by R. Tucker and bought by him. Enos was fined 5 for foul riding on Rosavannah. Scratched — 17773 Leando. 107. Overweights — Tommy OBrien, 2 pounds. Chancery, place, evens; show, 1 to 2. Rosavannah. place, 3 tol; show, 3 to 2. Winner— B. c, by Deceiver— Anna Gray. Went to post at 4 :55. Off at the first break to a good start. It was a driving finish. Schnell-laufor was well handled and favored by racing luck. Knight was in close to the rail all the way, saved all the ground possible and got through cleverly when the natural spread came at the head of the stretch. Rollins was slow in getting away and had to run all around his field. Ho swerved a trifle under punishment at the head of the stretch and interfered with Lovable. The latter was much used chasing Her Favor and ran a good race. With Her Favor out of the race Lovable would have won. Tony Honing did not show 6peed enough to keep up in the first part of the race, but he finished with a tremendous rush. The route was too far for Hor Favor. Dutch Comedians race would be hard to account for. He showed no sharp speed at all and was never in danger of winning. Yuba Dam. heavily backed, ran a disappointing race.
