L. was far and away the best of the field and was well ridden by Ransom. She won a very clever race though she had all she could do to get through in the stretch. Aureole came with a rattle at the end where Sister Alice tired badly. Semper Eadem ran well and should win later on. Nettie Regent ran a bad race and Full Dress a race that was even worse. The others were never prominent. Scratched— 17727 Marguerite Hageman. 105 ; 14244-Lake Fonso, 103. Nina B. L., place, 8 to 1 ; show, 3 to 1. Aureole, place, evens ; show, 1 to 2. He had clear sailing, came away as he pleased and won pulling up. Ladv Elite ran a good race and seems to be coming back to her two-year-old form. Bohul did fairly well. Ida Fordham showed early speed, but was tiring badly at the finish. Sprung seems to have been sprung too soon. Solent will not do at present. Denman Thompson, going to the front in the first furlong, simply played with his field the rest of the way and won pulling up. The Butcher, rather slow to get into motion, came with a rattle at the end. Bill Massie was an ugly actor at the post, but ran a good race and should win soon. Matin, off badly, was interfered with several times and had no chance. Barring Censor, the others seemingly are a poor lot. Aurea was well handled by Walsh, ran a good race and stood a drive gamely at the finish. Beana came from nowhere in the stretch and was closing on the leader rapidly. OUie Dixon ran a good, honest race. Hurricane was made too much use of in the early part of the race. The same is true of Vohicer, the latter being badly handled. Rifle showed but little speed. Trebor, off badly ran a splendid race and should have won. La Grange also had poor racing luck or ho too might have beaten the winner. Acushla quit in the stretch. Scrivener ran prominently but lacked the speed necessary when the pinch came. Tension ran well for half the journey and then stopped badly. The others cut no figure. Scratched— 17795 Incidental, 104.
