Matin was presented with a Hying start and won all the way. He was better than this lot and did not need such a send-off to win. Sauuazaro, for it new beginner, ran a good race and seems to be particularly fond of mud. El Piloto liuished gamely under punishment. Senator Joe labored in the going and tired at the end. Possart got away in a : 1 angle and never really got straightened out. Impromptu showed no speed. Winner — Ch. c, by Top Gallant— Lizzie English. Went to post at 2 :55. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily at the end after an early drive; second and third were doing their best. Nobleman is in good form, liked the going, j and won impressively. He crossed in front of Abe Furst at the eighth post in the stretch, almost j causing a foul. He did not hit Abe Furst, however, and as Knight made no claim the judges let ] the matter pass. Abe Furst had no excuses and ran his race. He never was much in deep, sticky going. The first three outclassed the others and beat them away off. Nora C. showed a flash of speed, but retired early. Scratched— 15302 Dagmar, 126. Overweights — Voyageur, 3 pounds. Winner— B. c, by Midlothian— Talluda. Went to post at 3:25. Off at the second break to a good start. Won easily ; second, third, fourth and fifth driving to the limit. Lomond reveled in the going and made a runaway race of it. He is a fairly good colt and at his best now. Under a bad ride Forbush ran a good race. Miller seems to get into trouble on the far turn with every horse he rides, and in this instance he j got Forbush sharply shut off, after which the gelding displayed great gameness. Galileo made 1 up a lot of ground from the head of the stretch home, and seems to like mud. Mark him for early . action in a jumping race. Woodtrice finished where he belonged and was at altogether too short a price. Scratched— 18113 Clara Wooley. 90; 18268 Vain. 100. Overweights— Woodtrice, 1 pound. Lomond, place, 4 to 5 ; show, out. Larkspur reveled in the going, had speed to spare and was never fully extended. She , is a good filly over a distance of ground, especially when it is muddy. Thomas Carey ran one of j his best races, but was outclassed by the winner. The deep going seemed to be a handicap to , The Monk, who ran far below the mark. Flaunt was jammed into the fence and badly interfered j with by Larkspur on the first turn. Malaise showed her usual amount of speed, but was much 1 used by pacemaking and tired in the stretch. Castake liked the going, showed the most speed and was well handled. He ina liae been a tritle short and tired in the last thirty yards and l ore out, interfering slightly with Trimmer. The latter was much the best and only a bad ride beat him. Miller did the best t he could, but as a jockey he has a lot to learn. The going was a handicap to Racivan, and this i considered, he ran his race. Glonoiue seemed to be going easily on the far turn but when Moody let him down he juit badly. Irish B. gave Glonoiue a terrible kick at the post. Scratched— 18237 Dutch Comedian. 112; 18054 Donation, 109; 18176 Ollie Dixou, 107; 1x234 Alice B, 103; 18269 Teucer. 112. Louisville got the worst of the start, but was finely ridden by Kiley y and ran a good, game race. Kittie G. showed fine speed, also a fondness for heavy going, and d $ _ after being heavily backed came near landing. Satan and Zeriha both quit badly in the stretch. Thermos made a poor showing.
