Winner— Br. f, by Pontico— Black Gal. Went to post at 2:20. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won cleverly at the end after a hard eftriy drive; second, third and fourth were under full sail. Princess Tatyana was much the best and had to he to win. She was sharply shut off and almost thrown over the fence on the far turn, and for an instant did not seem to have a chance. Shedisplayed Kreatgameness and laying close to the rail gradually moved to the front, and at the finish was going away. Dandy Jim was the one that interfered with Princess Tatyaua, and at the eighth post he looked all over a winner, hut in t lie last twenty yards tired badly. Aack Phelps finished gamely and got third place in the very last stride. Ben Mageu got a Hying start, but it was of no use to him. Kid Hampton was , lame before the race and ran poorly. Winner— B. h, by I roquois— Bracelet. Went to post at 2:55. At post 8 minutes. Start good. The first three were driving hard. Bangle forgot to sulk and, although handicapped by a bad ride, ran a good game race. He did not have speed enough to keep up in the first part of the race and swerved some under pressure 1 at the eighth post but in the la6t fifty yards Buchanan straightened him out skilfully and at the 1 end the horse had something left in reserve. Hermoso set a terrific pace. He is a very fast horse and likes mud but about five and a half furlongs is as far as he cares to go. Ed Gartland 11., slow to begin, ran one of his good races. Kiley could not get Nobleman to going in the first I part of the race and, .aking everything into consideration, the colt did not run up to the mark. Boney Boy is not at his best. Ben Ledi showed a lot of speed but retired early. Scratched— 18;_ti Lomond, 106; 1X141 Ailanto, 99; 179802 All Gold, 99 ; 179% Goebel, 117. Bangle, place, evens ; show, 1 to 2. Winner — B. g, by Luke Blackburn— Melia T. Went to post at 3:40. At post 5 minutes. Start good. Won handily ; second and third were driving to the limit. Durwad awoke suddenly and under a good ride ran a good race, fencing [ finely and displaying a great liking for this game. Van Brunt liked the soft going and finished stoutly under pressure. For a new beginner at the game Myosotis made a good showing, fencing , well and hanging on gamely in the run through the stretch. Zufallig showed the most speed, , but Eggerson used him a lot in setting the pace, and when the pinch came he had nothing left to finish with. Frond could not navigate in the heavy going. Winner— Ch. h, by St. Blaise— Susquehanna. Went to post at 4:15. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won easing up. It was a terrific drive for second place. Great Bend is in rare form now, likes the mud, and in this race he spread-eagled his field. The horse hit Larkspur an awful bump at the start, interfering as much with his own chances as he did with Larkspurs. Brulare showed a lot of speed, but was stopping and 1 tired enough to lay down at the end. Star Chamber is a good, game, honest colt. Celeritas « could not do his best in the going. Forbush had good racing luck and from all indications was the best, as 6 he was handicapped by jockey Miller being up. John A. Morris had no excuses. Knight got him away full on big stride, always had clear sailing and had lie amounted to much he could not have e lost. Jobephine B. had a trine the worst of t he break and ran a fairly good race. She swerved badly in the stretch and may have been short. Pitfall made up ground throughout and with better racing link would have been a keen contender. Bishop Reed reveled in the going and tow-roped his field. He is a good mud horse and in fine form. Braw Lad was no matrh for the winner, but he always held the others safe. Lady Britannic was tiring and all out at the end. Moody wax about as modi help to Prestar asa dummy would have been. He seemed to be asleep at the post and managed to get shut off a couple of times.
