W n eased up; second the same. 184 Third, fourth and fifth were driving. Regea was much the best and ran a good race. She was 18i much used at the post, being prominent in all breakaways, but this did not seem to have any bad 181 effect on her. Kohnwreath did well for a new beginner and can be marked for early action. 1! Donna Bella appeared to have a chance at the head of the stretch, but tired badly in the run borne. Anna Chamberlain is a good looker ami should win a race soon. She was well backed here. In Shot is flighty and ran her race at the post. Peaches finished stoutly. Winner— B. m, by St. Blaise— Active. Went to post at 2:55. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily; second and third 1 doing their best. Donna Rita was best ridden and ran a really clever race. She is a good mare i F to handle and the slow pace was just to her liking. Knight sat perfectly still on her in the first i Is half, and made his move at the proper time when well straightened out for home. Jolly Roger • ei sulked in the first pari of the race. He was just making his move when, through Bolands carelessness, he collided with Barton, causing the latter to fall. This accident interfered with Jolly Roger considerably. Jimp was rank, and under a double pull was fighting for his bead all the = way. When Narvaez let him down, however, he had no speed left to respond with. Malay ran a fair race. Julius Cae6ar stopped almost to a walk in the last furlong. Neither Barton nor Jockey J McDowell was hurt in the fall. li Scratched— 18289 George Krats, 103. _ Overweights— Julius Caesar, 2 pounds. _ Donna Rita, place, 6 to 5; show, I to 2. Off at the first break to an excellent start. Wron hand ridden and all 1 s out ; second, third and fourth were driving hard. Mauga had a pull in the weights and showed d the most speed. She set a terrific pace, but was tiring badly at the end. Boomerack made a good d 6 showing. He displayed more speed than usual and finished gamely under punishment. Benson ■ Caldwell likes a route. He was the freshest at the end, and had it been three-quarters he surely would have won. Neither Farmer Bennett nor Gold Badge was ever dangerous. Corrected weights— Boomerack, 96. All Gold is a fine looker and from all indications possesses Derby class. Knight rated £ him cleverly in front and never for an instant did the others have a chance to beat him. Vain did all that was asked of him and ran a fair race. Bergen was handicap enough to beat The ie Lady. This once famous jockeys riding days are over and his exhibition on The Lady was is laughable. Winner— B. g, by Watercress— HeadHower. Went to post at 4 :25. At post 13 minutes. Start good. Won easily ; the next six were all in ,a a heap and driving to the limit. Headwater ran a smashing good race. He was pinched off on °? the far turn and Buchanan was obliged to take him back and go around his field on the stretch turn. In t lie last furlong Headwater beat his opponents like a good horse. Goebel might have been a trille short. He was clear of his field below the eighth post, but hung a tritle at the end. H ?• Rival Dare, in a pocket most of the way, ran the best race of her career. Vohicer, off last, made up ground throughout and finished like a lion. St. Cuthbert quit badly iu the stretch. So did i;j ,° Pence. May Beach bad ■ rough journey and hardly ran her race. Ross rode her bard all the 116 wiv It was a speedy lot and not many lengths separated the entire bunch at the end. Won in a hard drive; the next four also under keen pressure. The Elector, when at his best, is a useful selling rdater and he iB on the improving list, and the next time he starts will beat better ones. Vincennes had a journey aud ran a good, game race. Walkenshaw closed stoutly in the stretch. So did Dixon. Emigre and Bishop Reed used up what speed they had early and both tired badly the end. Forbush does not run so well in Dr. Rowells hands as he did for J. H. Smith. Wilson an excellent race on the winner. Scratched-18381Prince Blazes, 110; 183812Trimmer, 107; 18115:iPapa Harry, 102.
