Bounteous, well ridden, caught Colonel Padden at the sixteenth post and the two drove out closely to the finish, the former lasting longest. With riders reversed Colonel Padden would have won easily. Coburg showed a high order of speed and spreadeagled his field in the first part of the race but was tired and stopping fast at the end and had to be ridden out. Montanic could not get to the front but ran a game race from behind and was gaining on the leader at the finish. Andrisa, backed for a •good thing." ran her race but was slow to get into motion. He was pinned oa the rail in the first half mile and was shut out on the turn out of the backstretch. Kilogram ran an improved race, was well up for one mile and a half, then tired. He was badly messed around by Maher and came near being caught napping by Lady Massey. The latter would have won had Dangman made his run sooner. She closed in the stretch with a grand burst of speed. Precursor could not stand the pace. Three Bars seemed dangerous at the head of the stretch, but tired in the final furlong.
