Hernando was lucky to get through on the far turn and ran a good, game race. He hung for an instant in the stretch, but came on again when Knight applied the whip. Sculptress acted badly at the post and was roughly treated in the race, but closed stoutly in the stretch and perhaps would have won in a few more strides. Schoolmaster had no excuses. He was in front twenty yards out, but hung right at the end. Handy Man showed a lot of speed and ran a good race. Whangdoodle is a good looking youngster, and for a new beginner ran a good race. Ericsell showed a flash ol early speed. Scratched— 17841 Wampago, 100; 18643 slceni, 105; 18789 Lake View Belle. 100; 19003 Boome-rack, 108; First Pop, 108. Hernando, place, 4 to 1; show, I to 1. Winner Ch. c, by Top Gallant— Addie C. II. Went to post at 2:10. Off at the first break to a good start. Won easily at the end after a hard early drive : second handily ; third and fourth driving hard. Sidney Lucas is a champiou loafer and Caywood had to keep at him all the way. At the head of the stretch Caywood was compelled to draw his whip, but it was only necessary for him to hit the colt a couple of times. Norford showed fine sp»ed and ran a good race. Midwood hung at the end and barely lasted long enougli to beat Wax for third place. The latter was sharply interfered with at the start and had to go all around his horses, otherwise he would have been third. Sam Fullen stopped with his mouth wide open and was evidently short. Lake Mills is a fairly eood colt and under a good ride ran a good race. Boland placed him cleverly all the way, and in the stretch went to the front like a flash. It was probably too far for Van Hoorebeke. He showed fine speed, but weakened when Lake Mills caught him in the stretch. Brownie Anderson was probably short. Jim McCleevy could not extend himself in the first part of the race, but in the last half closed ground rapidly, and in the stretch was running over horses. Lady Britannic showed early speed. Insurrection ran a poor race. Overweights— Refugee. 24 pounds. Lake Mills, place. 8 to 5; show, 4 to 5. Van Hoorebeke, place, 6 to 5; show, 3 to 5. Winner— Ch. c. by St. Florian— Reckon. Went to po t at 3:10. At post 4 minutes. Start good. It was a spectacular finish and all three were driving to the limit. This race was a cjueerly run one. Each of the three boys had waiting instructions consequently the early pace was slow. Burns realized this and never made a move on his colt until he got well straightened away for home. Then he surprised Vititoe and Advance Guard shooting by them like a flash in the last fifty yards. Advance Guard was undoubtedly the best but Vititoe rode him with poor judgment. He was continually moving up and takeu back. This handicapped the colt and when Vititoe went to his whip he lost all control of himself allowing Advance Guard to wabble all over the track. Sidney Lucas repeated with marked gameness and although beaten at the head of the stretch he hung on with bull-dog tenacity. Winner— B. f, by Kingston— Seville. Went to post at 3:45. Off at the first break to a good start. The first three had a battle royal. The Lady is as game as a pebble, and stealing up on the rail in the stretch she outlasted Boney Boy and The Elector. The latter, perhaps, should have won. Wilson rode a rather weak finish on him and waited too long before he drew his whip. Bullman rated Boney Boy cleverlj in front and rode a very skilful race. Donna Rita ran a fair sort of a race and can win in lower company. Scratched-18941Fly By Night. 124; 19004 Bannock burn, 127. Overweights — Boney Boy, 2 pounds. The Lady, place, 3 to a ; show, out. Espionage was benefited by her race of Tuesday and turned the ! tablet finely on Moroni. J. Martin was lucky to get through on the far turn with Espionage. The boy took ■ long chance and it won the race for him. Moroni set a hot pace and ran his best i race. Prince Blazes is in good form and will be hard to l eat at a mile and a quarter or over. Onomastus had speed to loan and won like a stake horse. He never was fully extended and will be hard to beat from now on in any company. Rollins got off well in his stride, was well handled and ran his race. He faltered once in the stretch, but came on again when Bullman struck him with the whip. Minyon could never get to the front. Emigre ran a smashing good race and should have been third. Pay the Fiddler made up much ground in the last three furlongs. Dr. S. C. Ayres showed some speed.
