NOTES OK THE TURF. The yearlings from Mr. A. B. Spreckels Napa Stock Farm will be 6old in New York this year by the Fasig-Tipton Company. They will go east in August and the sale will take place on the 28th of that month. There are about thirty of them and they are a grand looking lot. A colt by Ormonde— Atossa, by Dunlop, will be in the consignment and will no doubt bring a big price, as he is a grand looking colt. Superintendent George W. Berry has these yearlings all in fine condition.— San Francisco Breeder and Sportsman. Star of Hanover, chestnut colt, 3. by Hanover — Star Actress, ran five furlongs on the track at Manchester. England, on June 7, in 58* seconds, which is a new track record for that course. The American record is 0 :."6i for the straight track at Morris Park, and 0:59 on the track of the California Jockey Club at San Francisco. Star of Hanover is owned bj Mr. J.S.Curtis, who also owns his dam. Manager Fowler of the Newport, Ky.. track-has been presented by Col. Mark Simonton with a series of color plates of famous English jockeys. Among the riders represented are : T. and 8. Loates, "Morny" Cannon. George Barrett, John Osborne. Fred Archer and three other shining lights of British turf. At the annual meeting of the directors of the Pacific CoaEt Jockey Club held last week, the . following officers were elected : President. M. F. Tarpey; Yice President. Henry J. Crocker; Secretary and Treasurer, F. H. Green; Board of Directors. S. M. Androus, E. Corrigau. W. S. Hobart and Wellington Gregg, Jr. There will be considerable raciug in California this summer, as the runners will be provided for at Napa, Vallejo, Colusa, Willows, Red Bluff. Chico. Marysville, Woodland. State Fair, Stockton, Oakland, San Jose and Los Angeles— a good circuit. Gus Straus, Lexington, Ky., has Bold to L. J. Haas, Columbus, O., Dr. Barrow. 2. by Portland —Misfit, on private terms. Dr. Barrow showed well in his early spring work, but has never started in a race. Maj. B. G. Thomas, Dixiana Stud, Kentucky, has sold Mannie Himyar. brown mare, foaled 1894 sister to Domino, by Himyar— Mannie Gray, by Enquirer, for ,560. The name of the purchaser is not made public in the report of the sale. Rose Apple, bay, filly, 4. by Scorpion— Rosa Lewis, the property of E. N. Farrell. got out of her stable recently at St. Louis a»d fell on the sidewalk, broke her leg in two places, and was destroyed. E. Corrigan has arrived at Newmarket. England, with his stable of horses, and they will be trained by G. Ashby. who was formerly trainer for the late Mr. Hamar Bass, at Bloomsbury House. Gus Straus of Lexington, Ky., has sold, by telegraph, the two-year-old bay colt Drogheda. by Russell— Minnehaha, to H. Eugene Leigh, for ,000, and he has been shipped east. "Cash" Sloan, brother of "Tod" Sloan, has signed to ride the remainder of the season for the Due de Gramot in France. Benjamin F. Anderson. City — You should be paid the straight odds on Schorrs entry in the third race.
