Winner— Ch. g. by Teuton— Marion C. Went to post at 2:30. At post 12 minutes. Start good. Won hand ridden. The other three were doing their best. Cogmoosey with a pull in the weights and under a good ride ran a high-class race. He is a flashy gelding and would be a stake horse if he had sound legs. Florizar stayed up close to the leaders all the way and at the head of the stretch appeared all over a winner but under pressure at the end hung a trifle. Laniachus was well handled and had no excuses : he simply was not good enough to win. The Monk ran his race. Cogmoosey. place, 2 to 1: show, out. Florizar, place, 4 to 5; show, out. Winner— B. m. by Racine— Aurelia II. Went to post at 3 :05. At post 9 minutes. Start good ; won cleverly ; second the same. Third and fourth driving hard. Sly was skilfully handled and ran a grand race. Bullman got the mare away Hying, but took good hold of her in the first half, thereby avoiding the early pace, which was terrific. Bullman never made a move until straightened for home, then Sly went to the front like a flash. Belle of Memphis is at her best and ran a fine race. Headwater found it hard to keep within striking distance in the first part of the race, but closed resolutely. Under ■ bad ride Algareta ran a good honest race. Sharp Bird is a speed marvel, but seems to possess little or no stamina, and after setting the track on fire in the first half, stopped badly at the end. Princess Thyra acted sour as the post and did not run her race. Scratched— 18941 Bangle, 114. Sly. place. 4 to 5; show, 2 to 5. Belle of Memphis, place, 3 to 1; show, 7 to 5. Miss Bennett was best and smothered her field with speed. She is a grand filly and will be hard to beat from now on. Harry Herendeen ran a good, honest race. It was strictly form, as he had a very rough journey in his last race. School for Scandal was right there all the way. Golden Age got away all in a tangle and never got fully straightened out. His race was below par. Admonition is a good looking colt. Lady Schorr was dull of speed and ran disappointingly. Won cleverly after a long, hard drive. All of them were extremely busy behind the winner. Knight rode an excellent race on Gold Fox, and the colt did his very best. The boy waited patiently during the early part of the journey and avoided the hot early pace. At the head of the stretch Knight made his move and slowly but surely overhauled the leaders, and at the finish was going away. Eva Rice was especially *prepped" for this race, and she ran as well as it was expected she would, she seeming to be -winning at the sixteenth post. Andes is in good form and can win when placed right. Found showed the most speed in the early stages of the race, but after setting a hot pace to the stretch she tired and quit badly. George B. Cox was outclassed and beaten off all the way. Scratched— 13050 Sue Nell, 102; 190O42Barrack, 87. Gold Fox, place. 2 to 5. Eva Rice, place, 2 to 1. Andes, place, 4 to 5. Winner— Ch. h, by Sir Dixon— Prairie Queen. Went to post at 4 :50. Off at the first break to a good start. Won well in hand: second and third were driving to the limit. Orimar is in his best form, and under a well judged ride won •without an effort, Clay Poynter was fit and ready, had no excuses, and ran his best race. Mark this horse for early action. Patroon was much used in pacemaking, and hung when the pinch -came, but at that ran a smashing good race. Sea Knight is a big, fine-looking gelding, and seems to be of the improving kind. Wax is a bad horse. Red Pirate should win about the next time be starts, if in his own class. He had a very rough journey. Sam McKeever seems to be of little or no account. Mellocole was cleverly saved at the post, lucky throughout and was extremely fortunate to win. Miss Shanley showed the most speed, but the route was a trifle too far for her and at the end she was tired enough to lie down. Teucer was much used at the post, but eventually got away flying and had no excuses. Henry C. ran a smashing good race. Graziella pulled up quite lame. Free Hand showed some speed, but could not carry it far. Bitter Root ran his race at the post and when Caywood saw he was beaten at the head of the stretch he eased the horse up. Iznik bolted and refused to leave the post, but his rider took him over the route and when pulling up at the paddock Iznik bolted and tried to jump the fence. No damage was done. J. H. Smith ran the winner up to 00 and bought him. Scratched— 15608 Macy, 106; 18879 Chappaqua, 106; 190012Josephine B.,99; 190053 Lomond, 95. Mellocole, place. 20 to 1 ; show, 8 to 1.
