J Went to post at 2:30. At post 5 minutes. Start good. Won easily; second and third were J driving hard. Modrine was the best, showed a fine turn of speed, and was never fully extended. J Hnllmiin eased the colt a trifle on the stretch turn to keep him from swinging wide and for an J instant The Ladv in Blue was lapped on Modrine, but when Bullman was ready he drew away easily. The Lady in Blue ran a good race and hung on gamely under a drive in the last sixteenth. Parmenion got into a jana at the start and never got straightened out until the stretch was reached, then he closed stoutly. Ailanto showed a sharp tutu of speed, but was hemmed in and badly interfered with all through the stretch. Emigre got a lifeless ride and ran poorly. Modrine, place out. There was | also keen action behind the winner. Likeness was well ridcen and won a lucky race. She i was staggering at tlie end and barely lasted long enough to stall off Kid Cox. As the race was run Kid Cox showed lie was far the best. He was the last horse when passing the three furlong post, but luckily got through on the inside at the head of the stretch and finished like a wild horse. Small Jack had no excuses. He got away fully in his stride, always had clear sailing, and stopped as if short at the end. Farmer Bennett had bad racing luck, but made up a lot of ground in the last three furlongs, and ran a good, game race. Gold Badge had a rough journey. , Craven acted insanely at the post, ran away a couple of times, eventually threw Bullman ; and, . after the boy refused to ride him, the field was sent away without him. Craven is a full brother to Dorian, and is just as crazy as ever Dorian was. Overweights— Cora Goetz, 2 pounds ; Craven, 24. Likeness, place, 2tol; show, evens. Kid Cox, place, 24 to 1; show, evens. Off at the first break to a good start. It was a driving finish. The first three were close together and hard at it all through the last sixteenth. Espionage was out to the last ounce and barely lasted long enough to win. Catastrophes rush at the end was a timely one. This horse is a shifty selling plater and seems to be in fine form. Mark him for ear y action. Red Pirate ran an improved race and with a stronger ride would have been second. Prince Blazes showed more speed than usual, but Bullman made a mistake in forcing the pace with him and when the pinch came the gelding had nothing to finish with. Brulare was short of spe«d. Jim McCleevy and Topmast both ran bad races. Espionage, place, 8 to 5; show, 4 to 5. Catastrophe, place, 2 to 1 ; show, evens. Red Pirate, show, 3 to 1. Jim McCleevy, place, 8 to S : show, 4 to 5. The first half dozen were lapped on one another and driving to the limit. Silver Garter broke running, took the shortest route, showed a lot of speed and ran a good, game race. He wanted to stop at the sixteeuth post but responded when Martin called upon him. Honeywood was lucky to get through on the inside on the first turn and was always a keen contender. George Krats, on the outside all the way, ran a fine race and finished with a tremendous rush. Troubaliue hong to Silver Garter like a leech for the first three-quarters but in the run through the stretch she tired. Owensboro ran a fairly good race. Silver Garter, place, 8 to 5; show. 4 to 5. Winner— Br. c, by Fordham— Old Miss. Went to post at 4 :45. Oft at the first break to a good start. Won in a long, hard drive of two. Third was driving also. Tuthill was cleverly handled and outgameH Star Chime through 1 the stretch It was a very close fit and pretty finish between the pair. J. Martin, on Star Chime, did his best, but he is not a strong boy and Vititoe naturally outfiuished him. Chappaqua was I cleverly handled and at the eighth post seemed to have a winning chance, but the weight told on him at the end and he hung. La Josephine stopped with her mouth wide open and seemed to be ! a bad betting proposition. Tuthill, place. 4 to 5; show, out. Star Chime, place. 4 to 5; show, out. Winner— Ch. m, by Wawekus — Leonora Richards. Went to post at 5:15. Off at the first break to a good Man. Wou hand ridden ; second and third were doing their best. Livadia is a speedy mare and was at her best today. Mathews kot away Hying and made every post a winning one. Limerick, with a lot the worst of the weights, 1 ran a good, game race and should win soon, ireatland was raced into subjection trying to keep up with Livadia in the first part of the race and when the pinch came in the stretch he had nothing left and swerved badly. The Bobby came with a rush at the end. Erwiu showed no 1 5 t 1 - speed and seems to be of little or no present account. Tarhill pulled up very lame.
