MEMNONS FAST HALF There was an unusually large crowd present at Washington Park yesterday for a Mondays gathering and especially following so closely upon Saturdays immense throng The racing was high class all through and a better days eport conld not have been given anywhere anywhereThe The feature event of the day went to the light weighted Monarka who took a commandinglead after the first quarter had been run and remained there to the end It seemed for a moment as if Mr Brown would get to her at the last eighth but Ranch rallied her and she came away handily Advance Guard failed to make his usual great stretch run and had to be content with third money moneyPat Pat Dunne sprang a great surprise in the first race when his speedy twoyearold gelding Memnon whirled off a half mile in 47c seconds chipping off onefifth of a second from the track record Memnon won easily by two and a half lengths from the good filly Elsie L who has shown splendid form in her races hereabouts hereaboutsGonfalon Gonfalon showed himself to Le a highclass sprinter by beating the fast but faint hearted Money Muss in the final sixteenth coming with a great ruth at the end Ee saved ground by skinning the rail while Bnllman swung wide with Money Muss MussFancy Fancy Wood showed to good advantage set ¬ ting the pace for the entire route in the fourth race and easily defeating Trinity Bell who has been running some excellent races since coming to Chicago having beaten the great Lady Schorr in the Turf Congress Special at Harlem HarlemThe The two selling races were hotly contested San Andres captured the first which was the second race of the day after showing a fine order of speed and withstanding a vigorous challenge frcmCdnor The second the last race of the day produced a rattling finish between Leo Newell Ecome and G W W in which the first named prevailed by a half lergth with Ecome a long head in front of G W W Myth was the favor ¬ ite but was never a factor factorAn An excellent card is provided for this after ¬ noon with all the crack fillies of the Western turf down to start for the Lakeside Stakes which is the central feature of the day
