MORE TURF COMPLICATION The following from the Cincinnati Commer ¬ cial Tribune of Friday is an interesting contri ¬ bution to the present years list of novel turf j happenings in the west westManager Manager Fowler had a few callers yester ¬ day as Colonel J J Douglass and his attorney Colonel L B Bailey both of Louisville came down to look up the interests of the trotting track at tbe Falls City with the view to get into the Turf Congress circuit It has all along been the intention cf several of tho Tnrf Con ¬ gress magnates to form a syndicate and lease this track but since Colonel Douglass was at Newport it is probable that this will not be done doneThe The Louisville track will be taken into tho circuit and its affairs will be in the hands of the local people Its first meeting will bo held next spring in direct opposition to the meeting at Churchill Downs beginning right after the close of Nashville Colonel Douglass proposes to give high class racing and will try to keep tho game above suspicion The track is in good condition and only lacks stable room or a meeting cpuld be held this fall Tho stables will be built and the grandstand overhauled at once onceMessrs Messrs Douglass and Bailey left on the afternoon train for Louisville and expressed themselves as pleased over the outlook for their track trackManager Manager Fowler confirmed the report that he would open a foreign book if be could securo the consent of his associates I am certainly trying to got that rule rescinded said Fowler and there is no good reason apparent why I should not have that privilege The rule itself was in tho nature cf epecial legislation against the Newport track and I think if this track bad never opened the rule would never havo appeared on tho books of the Turf Congress With todays racing I will have distributed in purses to tbe horse owners over S105CCO and I think that entitles me to some consideration Its war and all measures are right when that is on While I have been assured that some of my associates who opposed the foreign book in the spring are now ready to give their consent I am getting in the MisFouri stakes and they will have to show mo The matter will be set ¬ tled one way or the other in a few days As the Bighland Park meeting closes Satur ¬ day and the Ft Eria meeting opens next Thurs ¬ day it is possible that a meeting of the Tnrf Congrtes will be held at Newport on next Tues ¬ day The foreign book matter may bo settled before that time
