NASTURTIUM SELECTED. A New York paper is responsible for the statement that the two-year-old colt Nastur-ium, by Watercress Margerique, has been selected to carry Mr. W. C. Whitneys colors in next years English Derby. This conclusion was arrived at very recently at a conference of those most concerned in the colt, including Mr. Whitney, John W. Sogers and Trainer Buggins. The latter will have charge of the colts preparation for the claBsic event. At this conference the merits of Goldsmith and Nastnrtinm were discussed at length. Seme favored Goldsmith, but after every point had been considered it was decided to give Nastnrtinm the honor, and he will be shipped on the Minnehaha on December 28. "This is a bad time of the year for the shipment of horses," said Mr. Whitney, "bnt by sending the colt ever new it will give him more time to recuperate after bis arrival." Mr. Wbitnty is paying personal attention to the welfare of Nasturtium preparatory to making the journey. He inspected the Minneapolis the sister ship to the MiDnshaha, recently and made arrangements for the location of the stall, also its fittings, eo that everything would be done for the crmfort of the horee and to minimize the chances of accident and sickness. Mr. Bnggins will not go with the horse, which will be in charge of one of the most responsible men from the Whitney stables. This man has not yet been selected.
